Who Am I
I'm Prosha Kolosov — a ceramic artist based in Berlin.
I've been working with clay since 2003, when I started helping out at my parents' ceramic studio in Moscow to earn my allowance. What began as a way to make pocket money turned into a 20-year obsession.
I studied Japanese language and culture at university, spent time in Tokyo, and eventually ran the family studio for over a decade — teaching classes, taking commissions, glazing at 3am, fixing kilns, and figuring out everything the hard way.
In 2022, I moved to Berlin and joined Ceramic Kingdom in Neukölln as Studio Manager, Artist Program Mentor, and teacher. I've taught over 500 students across every level — from people who've never touched clay to working artists refining their technique.
Why mentoring?
Because I wish I'd had someone to call when I was struggling with a commission at 2am, or when I couldn't figure out why my glazes kept crawling, or when I wanted to open a studio but had no idea where to start.
Pottery books teach you theory. YouTube teaches you one person's method. A mentor helps you solve your specific problem, in your specific setup, right now.
That's what I do. Whether it's fixing your centering, reviewing your project, or helping you build a teaching programme from scratch — I've probably been through it myself.
What I work with
Wheel-throwing, hand-building, sculpting, slip-casting, mould-making, majolica, nerikomi, porcelain, glazing. If it involves clay, I've either done it or I'll figure it out with you.
